August began on a hot Thursday in Winston-Salem, but the morning for me was spent in the North Parlour, looking at the green camera light of my laptop, and leading a three-hour session to continue my introduction with new teachers at Dakar Academy Schools in Senegal. Although that's a seated activity, somehow it still seems draining, in part because virtual sessions will always feel like a hard push and sell to me, even if they go reasonably well. Anyway: I lulled the afternoon away and was not on track to be especially creative at dinnertime. Instead, it was spiced baked chicken leg quarters, baked potatoes, and the last of the week's "taco slaw," all for a filling meat-and-two-sides.
