With friends from Virginia arriving for a few days' stay between the holidays, I thought a big pot of Brunswick stew would do for the five of us at dinner last Wednesday night. I used up the last of the leftover baby back pork ribs from the Christmas Eve meal, and also depended on a generous-sized rotisserie chicken I grabbed from Costco. With all the other vegetables and flavors stewed in the slow cooker, this was a generous meal that was well-supported by the addition of sweet Southern cornbread.
Brunswick Stew derived some inspiration from the following:

- "Amelia's Slow Cooker Brunswick Stew," by Peach822 on AllRecipes.com.
"Sweet Southern Cornbread," adapted from "Golden Sweet Cornbread," from bluegirl on AllRecipes.com.
