March exited on Friday with a cloudy persistence and a smattering of drizzles. The month flew by but it did not leave us wanting for good days and good friends and good food. I was able to finish up the mulching of the azaleas strip along the south property line, as well as laying a new irrigation drip line to nourish those shrubs over there. I also had to undertake some repair of the front planting bed water lines, a major disappointment but only a minor setback in my mostly successful irrigation system endeavors. (More on that in a future blog post.)
Sumner remained the best canine companion while I messed around with and managed those landscape matters, always eager for the chance to catch a friendly passerby or to stare intently at other strolling pooches.
When my dear Virginia friends and colleagues were here earlier in the week, among the goodies brought along were a couple of excellent herb-and-spice kits, thoughtful gifts from Donna. That inspired last night's supper of filet mignon with a wonderful rub, plus asparagus cuts and roasted potatoes, both of which benefited from an herb and garlic mix added to boost them along. It was a terrific meal to finish out a very good week, and a most excellent month at the Roediger House.
