Last Wednesday was my final day of work for the Fall, as we head into the Christmas holidays, and it sure brought the semester to an end on a marvelous high note. I was with the current cohort of administrative interns and masters candidates from the High Point University Leadership Academy, and that seminar day was focused on prepping ourselves for the spring's rounds of clinical coaching practice. So I took homemade DoubleTree Hotel-style cookies, a sweet counterpoint to the hard-punching ideas we had to delve into. Reasonable copycat versions of this famous cookie have been in regular rotation here for a long time...all the way back to 2011, as best I can tell. But since 2016, my go-to recipe that always seems to please me (and anyone else if I'm not being too selfish about them) comes from Ayşegül Sanford. Once the Hilton Hotel chain released its once closely-guarded secret recipe, it seems the main difference in the two approaches is whether the rolled oats are ground or remain whole. I sort of split the difference, and like the outcome.
"DoubleTree Hotel's Chocolate Chip Cookies," by Ayşegül Sanford and her blog, Foolproof Living. [Published December 29, 2013 / Updated 07 December 2020] Official DoubleTree recipe from Hilton.com was released to the public on 09 April 2020.
