On New Year's Eve, when I took soup to a family I know, while the wonderful mother in that clan undergoes cancer treatment, I also threw in a plate of those wonderful DoubleTree Hotel-style chocolate chip cookies. I've been making these for quite a while now, having begun with a slightly different version called Monster Chip cookies (first discovered in 2001). They are pretty much always a hit. And the good thing is the recipe made plenty to share and still have plenty to keep.
