Sunday a week ago found a city much quieted by the previous day's remarkable snow storm, but it was still a good night for a gathering of three of us here in the Holly Avenue Neighborhood to enjoy supper and hang time. I'd churned a batch of sweet milk vanilla ice cream that morning and thought a cast iron skillet of old-fashioned peach cobbler might be just the thing to serve it with. I used a recipe that had only shown up here once before, back in August 2023, and I'm glad I found my way back to it. Warm cobbler, a scoop or so of delicious ice cream, and good company: that was a smart way to bring February online.
