Just before leaving town to work a stretch of days in southeast Georgia, I needed to knock out some items from the fridge, and that helped set the course for dinner on the first Saturday of February. I used ground beef in a homemade spaghetti sauce recipe, which enjoyed a slow simmer on the cooktop before being served abundantly over fresh-cooked spaghetti. With a side salad of power greens topped with the last of some homemade Thousand Island dressing, it was a fine weekend supper.
But with some sour cream that was nearing its use-by date, I sought out a quick dessert I might throw together after dinner, and this time around it was the Starbucks-inspired lemon loaf with a sweet glaze. It wasn't needed but what's that got to do with anything?
