A special request over the holidays was for a batch of Vierling Saloon cream of chicken and wild rice soup, so I happily obliged. A rotisserie chicken from Costco made shorter work of the prep, and some time Friday afternoon allowed me to knock out some of the easy advance steps. Also marvelous was that the three at the table were easily and reasonably pleased just to belly up to the bowls, so no other foodstuffs were necessary. And here comes more whiny honesty from me: the fact that it was yet another bone-chilling grey day, absent any substantive sunshine, with harsh breezes and brief pointless showers...a soothing bowl of stew was just outstanding.
