As the grand Thanksgiving week began last Sunday night, with our Oklahoma friends arriving around dinnertime, I'd also thought to put together an easy dessert we could reach for when we had settled our dinner bellies. That brought me 'round to those amazing lemon bars from Ina Garten, with their shortbread crust, all sweet and lemony, tangy and tart and tempting. Our squares were generous and I managed the unsightly approach of a succession of tiny bites so that my serving might last as long as possible. I'm sure I looked like a weirdo but was happy to be a persistent lip-smacker long after the others had set aside their (mostly) scraped-clean plates.
