After the dinner for six of us last Sunday night, I also had some fresh-made layer cake to serve up. I was drawn back to the really amazing vanilla cake from Jenn Segal of the Once Upon a Chef blog. The couple of times I've made it before earned this confection quite a lot of praise, and I hoped it could be a winner again that night. I must say: it was warmly received!
