Meal No. 54: New Year's Eve 2009
On the eve of the arrival of 2010, the best thing I could imagine happening at the Roediger House was a late-evening feast and the first lighting of a fire in the new fireplace. And that's the way it was.
First course: jumbo lump crab cake with homemade garlic-chili-lime aioli.
Main course: garlic and rosemary roasted leg of lamb, sugar snap peas, pimiento cheese grits, homemade golden potato bread, and 2005 Layer Cake shiraz. Palate cleanser: gingered pear sorbet.
I'd prepped the logs and had them at the ready for the near-midnight-lighting:
