Friday night's meal ended with a well-received dessert pairing: vanilla birthday cake with old-fashioned vanilla buttercream frosting, along with a fresh batch of cake batter ice cream. This was the second appearance of both of those desserts, and I'm pretty sure there will be many more appearances yet to come.
