Fri 23 Oct. The Friday before last was perfect for bringing Gern and Amy over to the house to mark the occasion of his birthday, just a tad early. One of his favorite meals was on the menu: pan-seared pork medallions with ginger-soy-shiitake mushroom sauce. We also had the longtime house favorite of company mashed potatoes, and I roasted some seasoned whole green beans. We had a fine evening, capped off with his choice of movie that night: Inglorious Bastards. (Ah, but there was dessert, too...as tomorrow's blog post will record.)
