The First Meal
Since the crux of this whole project was really the kitchen, this evening marks a very, very special step in the project: I cooked the first meal in the new culinary palace. This afternoon gave me a chance to move a lot of the foodstuffs from the "General Store" of the temporary kitchen in the dining room. It also helped that the new and much bigger hot water heater has been installed and is up and running (there'll be another blog entry on that later). It was a fantastic dinner of Not-So-Cajun Chicken, Brussels sprouts, Caesar salad, homemade hearty sunflower bread, and a crisp cool glass of Riesling. After a while, dessert will be had: some freshly-made key lime pie.
