Dateline: 26 Sept. The annual pilgrimage of dear friends Margaret and Tathy to Winston-Salem to fully immerse themselves in the Bookmarks Festival of Books and Authors had the bonus not only of dinner together on their final night, but also the special fall-anticipating dessert we had: apple crisp cheesecake bars. This is one of those special-occasion dinner appenders that brings such satisfaction, both to chef and diners. We partook of these while visiting post-supper in the north parlour, part of a great evening of conversation and catching up.
