The start of last week brought me back to a long-time favorite dessert: old-fashioned banana pudding. While the whole dish is a combo of goodness, a nice orchestration of tastes and textures, it usually pleases me more when I make a bonus pot of vanilla pudding, which is the absolute best part of it. This time, I felt shorted in that department! But taking the extra step of making a true meringue topping, and browning it a bit, when this served as last Monday's dessert? That's a partial compensation.
