When my cousins Marilyn and Earl came for dinner last Wednesday night, we sat down to some of the most delicious braised beef short ribs I can remember making, along with roasted broccoli and roasted potato wedges. Then we adjourned to the south parlour for catch-up conversation and to try to update ourselves on the doings of our cousins.
