The balloon flower is a favorite of ours as well. We planted them about 5-6 years ago, and they faithfully return every year to impress us with their deep purple presence. In fact, we sometimes refer them as smoke on the water... When the boys were younger, they'd hang out for hours waiting for the balloons to pop open, which they inevitably seem to do.
