Sentimentally Plucking a Chicken

A while back, when I was making chicken salad for the first time ever, I actually went to the trouble to isolate and remove the wishbone. It brought back a flood of memories from when I was a kid, and my sister and I would almost always be given the wishbone from the chicken my mother had just boiled up, and we'd do the wishbone pull and make a wish.

My nostalgia led me to grab my camera, and it turns out the late-afternoon sunlight was spilling in from the window over the kitchen sink, so I tried to artfully place the wishbone to be captured. I liked it enough to print it on the front of a notecard and send it to her with a note of my reminiscence.

See: I'm much sappier than you thought I was.
